Busybody is a tale inspired by the familiarity of returning home, celebrating cultural root, and paying homage to a lover whose attention is sought after. The creative journey for “Busy Body” began in Lagos during Sam’s first visit back to Nigeria in ten years, since moving to Canada, and in Benue State, Sam’s hometown. Returning to Lagos after decades felt familiar, like reconnecting with an old lover. The city surrounds you with its familiar, bustling energy and busy streets, where vibrant colors and lively sounds fill your senses. A place where the bustling chaos brings a sense of comfort and nostalgia.
When you arrive Lagos, you’re greeted first by the familiar smells of street food and the rhythmic beats of music echoing through danfo buses, churches, mosque, cars and the street-mounted speakers. In Lagos, the city that never sleeps, music is omnipresent.
Similar to reuniting with an old flame, returning to Lagos stirs mixed feelings of familiarity and change. The city may have evolved—the landmarks and streets may look different—but the essence of connection remains strong. It’s a reunion that resurrects memories of the past while igniting new excitement and rediscovery, providing fertile ground for creativity to flourish.
